We are looking for an experienced Engineering manager to be responsible for building
and leading high-performing team(s) that consistently delivers measurable business
impact through technical excellence, strong collaboration, operational and strategic
execution. They foster a culture of innovation, ownership (“you build it, you run it, you fix
it”), and continuous improvement, ensuring the team delivers their mission.
Tasks in the role:
An Engineering Manager has a diverse set of responsibilities that blend team
management, technical leadership, and strategic execution.
Here are some specific tasks an Engineering Manager typically handles:
• People management
• Lead and support team members to achieve goals and foster development
• Manage recruitment, coaching, performance reviews, and employee well-being
• Drive efficient ways of working and continuous improvement
• Foster a positive, value-driven team culture
• Ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment
Delivery and outcomes:
• Ensure the team consistently meets committed delivery goals by closely
monitoring progress, proactively mitigating issues, and collaborating with key
stakeholders
• Align team efforts with company objectives and stakeholder expectations and
ensure that clear feedback on efforts is possible since success is measured by
results and not effort alone
• Expertise in agile methodologies and iterative development to ensure that the
team can deliver business value incrementally and regularly
• Ensure focus and feedback at all times
• Ensure the team adheres to the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
process, guiding them through all product phases – discovery, delivery and
operate
• Accountable for product quality and engineering efficiency, including incident
management, security, updates, performance optimization, and scalability. Also
track and manage technical debt, plan for deprecations, and ensure
documentation is maintained.
Technical Excellence & ways of working:
• Good understanding of relevant technologies and systems to be able to give
input and coach their team throughout the SDLC (Software Development
Lifecycle) process
• Strong technical and business understanding for the product domains the
team works with to be able to identify which decisions can be delegated to the
team and which cannot
• Good understanding of the company´s business domains and technical
ecosystem to help the team identify dependencies and ensure that the right
stakeholders are involved
• Ensure that the team has the necessary technical competence by identifying
coaching and learning needs, driving continuous improvements, and
continuously improving ways of working (e.g., agile, lifecycle management)
• Optimize processes to improve overall team performance, ensuring both speed
and technical quality in deliverables
Key collaborations:
• Work closely with Product Managers, fellow Engineering Managers, and other
relevant stakeholders to ensure that there is clarity and clear mandates and
when there is a lack of clarity and that action is taken to move forward even
when all details are not known
Budget & Resource Management:
• Oversee all aspects of team budget planning and execution, including expense
approvals, forecasting, and resource allocation to support both initiatives needs
and team activities
• Has a good understanding of what drives costs outside of the team’s budget
and can guide efforts to ensure good cost optimization practices and design for
the whole
Profile experience:
• University education (Must)
• Swedish and English (Advanced on business level both verbally and in writing)
(Must)
• Level 4 – Broad and/or Deep Professional work experience (4 – 8 years)
• Previous experience from the financial sector (Nice to have)
• Good people-management skills
• Hands-on experience in leading development teams using modern
methodologies (such as AWS and a DevOps mindset)
About the assignment:
• Lead three teams, one in Stockholm and two in Malmö, which teams to support
may vary over time
• Location: in Skåne – preferably near Malmö
• On site hybrid solution 60/40
• Duration and allocation: Minimum 6 months, 100%
• Start: As soon as possible
