ABOUT THE ROLE
As an System Architect at Qmatic, you will be at the core of modernizing and modularizing the platform—through a sustainable, gradual, and business-focused approach. Qmatic is looking for an architect who enjoys working closely with development teams and who thrives in a role that combines strategic thinking with hands-on technical work.
You will:

Own and evolve the system architecture for a platform deployed both containerized on-prem and in AWS.

Ensure consistent packaging, upgrades, observability, and operational environments.

Support development teams in architectural questions and contribute with hands-on technical work.

Identify and design sustainable solutions that simplify integrations and empower partners.

Lead the modernization journey through stepwise modularization and decommissioning of legacy systems.

Ensure security, compliance, traceability, and access control are built in from the start.

Collaborate closely with DevOps, Product Management, global development teams, and Compliance.
TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT
Qmatic’s platform is built on a modern and robust technology stack, where the backend is primarily developed in Java and Spring Boot, while frontend solutions are created in Vue 3. The platform is containerized and runs in Docker and Kubernetes, enabling flexible deployments both on-prem and in AWS. Data is primarily managed in PostgreSQL, complemented by MySQL for customers operating on-premises installations. Qmatic works in an agile setup following Scrum.
YOUR PROFILE
We are looking for an experienced System Architect who enjoys driving change while also working hands-on with the platform. You see the bigger picture, propose improvements, and drive initiatives that strengthen the platform. You communicate clearly and inspire collaboration across teams and functions.
You have:

Experience modernizing monolithic systems
-
Strong skills in Java and Spring Boot

Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes
-
Experience designing/building systems for hybrid deployments (cloud + on-prem)

Experience designing API lifecycle/versioning and backwards-compatible integrations
-
Experience designing authentication/authorization patterns for platforms serving multiple applications
-
Experience with load testing and performance testing
-
Working knowledge of secure architecture (identity, least privilege, audit logging, secrets, encryption) and designing for auditability/traceability

Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written
Meritorious:

Observability depth (metrics/logging/tracing, OpenTelemetry or similar)

Familiarity with frontend platform patterns (Vue3) and authentication flows

Practical experience in ISO27001/SOC2 or similar regulated environments

Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures

Ability to communicate in Swedish
